Delete your Overcome account
You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, at any time. It is immediate and it cannot be undone.
In the app — the fastest way
Open Overcome and go to Settings → Delete account. If your account has a password you re-enter it to confirm. If you signed in with Google or Apple you have no password with us, so you type the word DELETE instead. It happens the moment you confirm — there is no waiting period and no approval step.
If you cannot get into the app
If you have uninstalled Overcome, lost access to the device, or cannot sign in, email us from the address on the account and we will delete it for you. Say that you want the account deleted — you do not need to give a reason. We verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting, and we reply within 5 business days.
overcome@optimusx.co.zaWhat deletion removes
Everything attached to the account, permanently:
- Your profile, sign-in details and recovery profile
- Your counters, milestones, goals and habits
- Daily and weekly check-ins, urge logs and coping-tool history
- Journal and workbook entries, and every summary written from them
- Companion conversations and the facts the companion remembered
- Community profile, posts, comments and reactions
- Notifications, reminder subscriptions and trusted contacts
- Your coach connection, and the notes and tasks a coach recorded against you
A coach cannot prevent it. If you are connected to a coach, deleting your account deletes your records regardless of any retention that coach would prefer, including an archived case file. Your decision about your own data is the one that counts.
What we have to keep, and why
Four kinds of financial record outlive the account, because South African tax and company law require us to keep books that add up. None of them contains health information, anything you wrote, or your name — they are amounts, dates and an internal reference.
- A dated record that an account joined or left a coach's roster
- The amount charged for one client line on a coach's invoice
- The record that notice of a price change was given before it took effect
- The record that a coach's roster changed size
We also keep the raw transaction records our payment provider sends us, which include the email address used at the time. We keep those for the period South African tax and company law require, and we use them for nothing else.
Take your data first, if you want it
Deletion is permanent, so export before you delete if you want a copy. In the app: Settings → Export your data. You get everything you have written, in a file you keep.
